Raft Wars Aiming Guide: Angle, Power and Which Weapon to Load

Published · 2 min read

Two numbers, not one

Every shot in Raft Wars is an angle and a power, and the drag sets both at once: the direction you pull is the angle, the distance you pull is the power. New players pull a different length every turn and then wonder why the ball that landed on the raft last time now lands in the sea. Fix the length first. Choose a pull you can repeat, something like halfway to the edge of the screen, and fire it. If the ball falls short, raise the angle a little; if it flies over, lower it. Only when the angle stops helping should you change the power. Do that and by the third turn you will have the enemy raft's range, and the range does not change until the raft moves, which it does not.

Reading the arc

Tennis balls are light and travel in a high, slow curve, which is why they are easy to aim and easy to see coming. Grenades and rockets are heavier: for the same pull they fly lower and land shorter, so a range you found with a ball needs a bit more power or a bit more angle when you switch. Remember what the last drag looked like before you make the next one; most misses are the previous shot with one thing changed too much.

Which weapon for which target

Tennis ball: free, unlimited, a small hit, and the right choice for an enemy who is already at the edge of the raft, because the shove does the rest. Grenade: costs money, explodes where it lands, damages everyone nearby. Load it when two enemies are standing together and land it between them. Rocket: the most expensive and the heaviest single hit. It is for the enemy with the biggest health bar, usually the one at the back with the best weapon, and it is wasted on anyone a ball could finish.

Where to hit a raft

A hit on the deck at an enemy's feet still moves them. A hit on the water next to them does nothing. So when the head shot is not landing, aim lower, at the raft itself: you will lose some damage but keep the knockback, and a knocked-back enemy who was already at the edge goes in.
